"SKY MASTER"

"Harness Hackney Pony Stallion".

The Hackney Pony is known as the "Peacock" of the show ring!

Hackney Ponies were created by crossing the Hackney Horse with mostly Welsh and Shetland Ponies.    The goal was to breed ponies that had many of the same qualities as the horses.    I think that they accomplished that goal wonderfully, with a BIG portion of "pony character" thrown in to boot!    Todays Hackney Ponies are the result of a lot of hard work, love and dedication by the early breeders!    And Hackney Ponies far outnumber Hackney Horses in the U.S. today.

More than just beautiful animals - Hackney horses *and* ponies have characteristics that make them ideally suited for carriage and driving animals.   They have incredible stamina and endurance! In my experience (with ponies) it is almost impossible to wear one out!    They can trot all day long and barely break a sweat or breathe hard!    They have wonderful, strong hooves and very hard, dense bone that makes them resistant to many of the diseases and injuries that are common among many other breeds.

"Harness" (long tail) ponies are 42" and up to 49" tall.   (Over 50" are shown as "Cob tail" ponies.)    They are shown with a full mane and a full, "set" tail. (They often have natural tails but are shown with a false "cap" (or wig) attached at the top to give the appearance of a set tail.)    Long front hooves with pads, and shoes on all fours.    Hooves are always polished, (with stripes blacked in) to look like Patent leather.    In years past, shoes and toe clips were also buffed to a mirror-like shine!

"Sky Master" is an original sculpture of my real-life Hackney Pony Stallion that was never produced as a resin edition.    "Traditional", (aprox. 1/9th) scale, he measures -- tall x -- long x -- wide.

This is the real-life "Malibar's Sky Master".
As a mature Stallion (top) and being shown as a 2 year old (bottom.)
