HARNESS PONY
Traditional Hackney Pony Stallion

I have been fascinated by Hackney Ponies ever since I visited the Kansas City Museum and saw a whole display about Loula Long-Combs, (Longview Farm in Lees Summit, MO), and her incredible American Saddlebreds and Hackney Ponies. I watched the videos, some in slow-motion, over and over again studying the amazing ACTION that these little fireballs had. Some trotted so high that they could even hit their elbows!

I was lucky enough to be able to attend The American Royal Horse Show in Kansas City many times, where I was able to really STUDY them move and how they were turned out for showing. I asked a LOT of trainers a LOT if questions over the years and I took in everything I could. (Probably drove a lot of them crazy in the process!)

This was the first Hackney Pony I created for production and was a limited edition. ALL copies were originally painted by myself. It was available Fall of 1996 - Fall of 2000. Though I intended for the run to be of 100, there are less than 50 pieces actually finished. He was produced by Randy Buckler and is solid cast with steel reinforced legs. Most were attached to thin, Basswood bases for extra stability.
