This piece was named after my Mother - a Belgian immigrant. I sculpted this piece using a live model at a Belgian breeders' farm in Michigan. She was this amazing Dappled Silver Chestnut! C. Marie captures the understated beauty and elegance of a typical farm or pleasure type Belgian mare.
Early castings were solid, later castings were hollow-cast with steel reinforced legs. Though she balances perfectly on two feet, most were mounted on a thin basswood base for added stability.
Unpainted castings originally sold for $150.00.
