6:45 P.M. "Sweetie" (Grassmere's Paint Brush) went into labor. We were truly Blessed to have been able to witness and photograph the birth of her first foal. The birth was complete by 7:00 P.M., filly was up by 7:15 P.M. and nursed for the first time at 7:50 P.M. By 8:00 P.M. (almost dark) she was already trotting and playing!

Sweetie got up and laid back down several times in the early stages of birth. She also paused and rested several times.



























At this point, I helped her along a little bit to get the shoulders out. The rest went very quickly!









After resting for just a coupl of minutes, Sweetie takes her first look at her new daughter!







It was love at first sight! Sweetie nickered softly and nuzzled her new baby.

Older Brother, "Scooter", was being an absolute PEST before and during delivery. He just couldn't wait to see his new baby Sister! So any extra legs you may see in the photos are probably his. He and his mother, "Julie" were right there to welcome her into the world.
